The Auromail POP server is pop.everyone.net
(or use 216.200.145.16 if your ISP’s DNS server is
unreliable.)
User-id: yourname@auromail.net (yes, type the full e-mail address, not only the part before the @)
Password: your Auromail.net password.
Port: 110 (the default POP3 port).
If you are a heavy user of e-mail, you may want to set up your e-mail program to delete mail regularly from the server or do it yourself if you exclusively use Webmail. Remember, you have a 10-GB storage limit.
You can access the POP server using 128-bit SSL (secured sockets layer) if your e-mail software supports SSL. Details here.
The Auromail SMTP server is smtp.everyone.net
(or use 216.200.145.17 if your ISP’s DNS server is
unreliable.)
Important:: Auromail.net uses an Authenticated SMTP server. You have to enable the My server requires authentication setting in your e-mail software to be able to send mail. (Some specialized e-mail software, such as Pocomail requires you to select one of several different types of authentication; in such cases, select the Login variety.)
The SMTP authentication user-id and password are the same as for the POP server above. Again, note that the user-id is the full e-mail address, not just the part before the @.
Note: The Auromail.net SMTP server uses port 25 which is the default SMTP server. Some Internet Providers (ISPs) block the use of this port to prevent their users from using third-party SMTP servers. If your ISP is one such, you can try to circumvent this restriction by specifying port 2525 for SMTP. This setting is found on the Advanced tab in Outlook Express. If you cannot find a way to change the port setting for SMTP in your e-mail program, try using this format to specify the SMTP server: smtp.everyone.net:2525
You can use the everyone.net SMTP server to send any e-mail “from”
any of your e-mail accounts. The only restrictions to
outgoing mail is that:
You can access the authenticated SMTP server using 128-bit SSL (secured sockets layer) if your e-mail software supports SSL. Details here.
The Auromail.net service can also be accessed using IMAP.
IMAP server: imap.everyone.net
User-id and password: same as for POP.
The SSL (Secured Sockets Layer) is a method to encrypt data sent over the Internet. It ensures that the information is sent, unchanged, only to the server you intended to send it to. Online shopping sites frequently use SSL technology to safeguard credit-card information as it travels from your computer to their server.
SSL is somewhat of an overkill for e-mail communications, but should you want to use it for logging into your Auromail.net account, you can do so by using the following settings in your e-mail software:
POP3 (128-bit SSL): pop.everyone.net, port: 995.
SMTP (authenticated, 128-bit SSL): smtp.everyone.net, port: 465.
Note that SSL will only ensure privacy, authenticity and integrity of data exchanged between your computer and the Auromail.net server. This may be useful in situations where the security of your Internet provider’s systems is suspect or if you access the Internet via a proxy server. E-mails leaving (or arriving at) the Auromail.net server will travel over the Internet using the standard SMTP protocol, i.e., in the normal, unprotected manner.
